Library is the brain of any educational institution of higher learning. It is the hub around which all the academic activities of the institution revolve. The central library of Chandigarh Group of Colleges is computerized and is stocked with thousands of books authored by authorities on the subject. The intake of books is a regular feature in the library and no important title related to the courses of study is missed. In addition to the course books general books for personality development, general knowledge, handbooks, yearbooks, reference books etc. are also added to the collections. The library subscribes to national and international subject journals, magazines of current interest along with national and regional dailies to keep the students abreast with the day to day happenings in the world and their fields of study. The duplex library is tastefully furnished and it can seat 200 students at a time in its spacious reading halls. The serene atmosphere in the library with rows of neatly stacked books plays a major role in attracting the students to the library for serious study and supplementing their class notes.
The central library has a collection of 12000 volumes and subscribes to 54 periodicals. Apart from books it has a huge collection of Audio video material, CD’s & DVD’s. The library maintains a separate “Book Bank” collection exclusively for the meritorious students.
Sharing of Outside resources:-
In order to provide extended facilities to the students the library has corporate membership of British Council Library. The students have access to the resources of this library also.
e- Journals:-
In this world of fast development it is very essential that the students are kept abreast with the latest developments in their fields of specializations. In order to meet with this requirement the central library has online access to the international data bases of “Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)”, “Association of computing machinery (ACM)” and “American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)”. The students can access their digital libraries and browse selected journals, magazines, reports, transactions etc published by them and their associates.
We are currently involved in utilizing the networked information resources for providing recent and most comprehensive access to e-journals, e-books, e-patents and other e-reference resources to the faculty students, staff, industries, alumnus under Intranet and Internet environments.
